Oceanside vs Calhoun

Calhoun 2, Oceanside 1: Ryan Hilke hammered a cross from Eric Stewart to the back post with four minutes left in the first overtime as host and No. 3 Calhoun escaped against No. 6 Oceanside in a Class AA quarterfinal. Michael Harten scored the equalizer with three minutes left in regulation off an assist by Stewart for Calhoun (10-2). Anthony Puleo had 11 saves in the loss. Mike Briguglio scored on a feed from Shane Monaghan 12 minutes into the second half for Oceanside (7-4-2). Calhoun goalie David Futterman (9 saves) made several key saves, including a great stop early in the first overtime on a blistering shot heading towards the upper corner. This all set up Hilke's winner for the Colts. "The home stands and the bench area erupted," Calhoun coach Jim Cantley said. "The word I would use to describe it is joy." Calhoun advances to Sunday's AA semifinal at Adelphi against No. 2 Hicksville at 7:30 p.m. The last time Calhoun reached the semifinal round was 2009 when it made it all the way to the finals before losing to Hicksville.
