MacArthur 24, Mepham 19: Alex Vargas scored a 1-yard touchdown run with 3:21 left in the fourth quarter for the game's final points as host MacArthur defeated Mepham, 24-19, in Nassau Conference II football on Saturday. His scoring run came two plays after finding Frank Hespe for a 61-yard pass to take MacArthur to the Mepham 2-yard line with four minutes left. MacArthur's winning touchdown answered Nicholas Sedita running for a 31-yard touchdown run with 4:40 left in the fourth quarter to give Mepham a 19-18 lead. Mepham's final pass fell incomplete at the MacArthur 20-yard line with 10 seconds left. Jesse Seder rushed for 155 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries, including a 49-yard touchdown on the third play of the game. He also had 11 tackles. Steven Mulqueen had a 5-yard touchdown run and a 24-yard touchdown reception for Mepham (2-5). MacArthur improves to 4-3.
