HIGHLIGHTS
Hempstead 20, Hicksville 14: Quarterback Joescephus Vanable rushed for a 65 yard touchdown run with 10:25 remaining to lead Hempstead (2-5) over Hicksville (1-6) in Nassau I. On a designed scissor-play run, Vanable went to the right side, cut twice and ran straight down the sideline, giving Hempstead a 20-14 lead. Vanable finished with 110 yards on seven carries. He passed for 86 yards on four attempts. This was Vanable's first start as a quarterback, and he added six tackles as a safety. Running back Darius Meadors rushed for 125 yards and one touchdown on nine tackles. Running back Shamar Jack rushed for 28 yards and one touchdown. Cornerback Brandon Johnson led the defense with eight tackles. On 4th and 1 with eight seconds remaining, Hempstead got stopped and gave Hicksville time for one play. Hicksville's quarterback Brian Lang threw an intended pass to Steven Diaz, but Hempstead's defensive back Tashawn Johnson picked it off in the endzone.
