HIGHLIGHTS
Garden City 58, Calhoun 7: Brian Haeffner made history for Garden City in a blowout victory in Nassau II. With the Trojans already leading 44-7 in the third, Haeffner returned a kick-off 99 yards for a touchdown, breaking a 60-year old school record set by Ross Farquharson on Oct. 31, 1953 against West Hempstead, when he returned a kick 97 yards for a score, according to Garden City statistician Jack White. Haeffner picked up the ball on the goal line just before it broke the plane to avoid a touchback, and shed several tackles before streaking up the left side for a touchdown. Haeffner also had a 67-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter that gave Garden City a 44-0 lead, as he finished the game with six touches for 183 yards and two touchdowns. Danny Miller led Garden City with 11 carries for 93 yards and three TDs, as the Trojans rushed for 368 yards on 39 carries.
