Elmont 28, Mepham 23: Aaron Ruthman completed 17 of 36 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 3 Elmont over No. 6 Mepham in a Nassau II quarterfinal. Mike Djalo rushed 10 times for 64 yards and two touchdowns, Sevin Malcolm added three receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown and Lucas Mathieu caught two passes for 38 yards and a touchdown. Brandon Vancooten forced a fumble late in the third quarter and Mike Holloway recovered the ball for Elmont at the Mepham one-yardline. Djalo scored on the next play to put Elmont ahead 22-16. O'Neill Pryce made a tackle to prevent a Mepham fourth down conversion with 1:40 left in the game on the Elmont 24-yardline to preserve the win for Elmont. Elmont (7-2) will face No. 2 Carey Saturday at Hofstra.
