Garden City 6, Valley Stream North 5: Anthony Riggi's two-out single in the bottom of the sixth drove in TJ McEvoy to break a 5-5 tie and lead No. 4 Garden City over No. 13 Valley Stream North in the first round of the Nassau Class A playoffs. Mark DiPierro and Mike Handal both went 2-for-3 and Kevin McNiff added two RBIs for Garden City (15-3-1). Andrew Nagel pitched a complete game, allowed two earned runs, six hits, and no walks, and struck out five to earn the win. Garden City will host No. 5 Lynbrook, Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
