Long Beach 16, Hewlett: In his first varsity game, sophomore first baseman Tim Brosnan went 4-for-5 with a home run and six RBIs to lead Long Beach (1-0) over Hewlett (0-1) in a non-league game. Matt Firto was 4-for-5 with two triples and two runs batted in during the game and Alec Bernarbeo was 3-for-3 and walked twice.
