St. John the Baptist 3, St. Dominic 1: Frank DeMaio tossed a two-hitter, allowing an earned run, while striking out five and walking none to lead No. 3 St. John the Baptist (20-6) over No. 1 St. Dominic (17-7) in Game 1 of the best-of-three CHSAA baseball finals at SUNY Farmingdale. Christopher Lemorocco's pinch hit, RBI single to left scored Jonathan Tenaglia to make it 2-0 Cougars in the top of the fourth. John LaRossa's RBI single to center scored Kevin Podell, who tripled leading off the bottom of the fourth, for the Bayhawks' (17-7) lone run. Game 2 is at 9 a.m. Monday, with Game 3 if necessary to follow.
